Desert Terrain Landscape Material


This post details the Desert Terrain Landscape Material I created for the senior capstone game Dead Pedal. Textures for this material were created by Brie Haller.

 

This material utilizes the World Align Blend nodes in Unreal as well as material functions to achieve the blended look of the material. The material transitions textures based on the normals of the terrain giving it a nice natural look. The graph is a bit spaghetti-like due to all the lerps that are being utilized.


 

I've also exposed variables in order for artists to have the ability to create material instances of this Master Material to change the variables in any way they would like for different situations.


 

Here are some screenshots of the application in game. Thank you to the Dead Pedal team for giving me the pleasure of coming on as a Tech Artist.
